Second Shooter for Clare West Photography | The Wedding of Angela & Ryan

I have always wanted to photograph weddings. It is such a special and beautiful occasion to document and capture, so I was thrilled to take a big step in my business and growth this year and take on my first bookings! Each wedding is different... Everything that is unique about the bride and groom, their families, friends, venues will materialise in their wedding day, and I knew it would be valuable to work on a variety of them before it came to shooting them by myself.

A local wedding photographer, the wonderful Clare West, who I had met towards the end of 2011 agreed to have me second shoot with her at one of the weddings she was capturing this summer. I was so grateful for the opportunity to get this extra insight into what is involved when photographing a day like this, and meet the lovely couple.

It was a really wonderful occasion, the bridal preparations were held at the Oxfordshire Golf Club, where the reception would later take place, and the ceremony was held at St Dunstans Church in Princes Risborough.

You can see Clare Wests amazing blog post about Angela and Ryans wedding here.

Since this day, I have photographed my own two weddings which were totally amazing to capture and work on. The first one I blogged here. I am so looking forward to next years bookings!

Thank you Clare for the opportunity to second shoot at this wedding with you, it was so valuable and special to be a part of.

Islington Town Hall Wedding - Piers and Kirsten

I was delighted to photograph the wedding of Piers and Kirsten this Summer. Their intimate ceremony took place on August 31st at Islington Town Hall with close family members and some good friends. After the ceremony we walked up to their apartment a few minutes away for a fun gathering with lots of laughter, champagne and colourful cupcakes!

The following day, celebrations continued as relatives and even more good friends travelled from all over the world to celebrate this couple!

The day was held at Piers's gorgeous family home between Oxford and Aylesbury. It was a beautiful setting for the occasion with gorgeous gardens and views as far as you can see, across the rolling Buckinghamshire countryside.

Their story began when they found themselves sitting next to each other on business trips to Paris. How romantic!

Piers is currently based in the Middle East where he runs his business from, and Kirsten lives and works in London, after moving here from New York. It was inspiring to get to know a couple who have had to work through the tests of a long distance relationship. The speeches that they both made were just so touching. It was amazing!

From start to finish their weddings celebrations were full of laughter, catching up with old friends and having fun! It wasn't a traditional wedding with cake cutting and first dances, but Kirsten did throw her bouquet into the crowd before they made their exit later in the evening!

As I came to know her, Kirsten has such a beautiful and playful energy as you will see from the photographs.

Thank you for asking me to shoot your wedding, it was totally amazing to capture it all and work with such special people. :)

So here we go with the photos... Day one, the ceremony...

The following day...

Family Fun Day at Uplands House

De Vere Venues Uplands House is a hotel, meeting place, business and wedding venue with lovely grounds, set in the country side of High Wycombe. I was excited to be asked to photograph their Family Fun Day last Sunday. It was a wonderful day with lots of exciting things for families and children to do, crafts and stalls, a BBQ and a dog show! Events company bluehat kept the children entertained with races and games including an egg and spoon race, sack race, javelin, and even hula hooping!

Local businesses came to exhibit their products and services including Heather Salter of Forever Living Products, jewellery by Marian Hanney, cupcakes by Jackie O'Garro of Purely Scrumptious Cakes, greeting cards and stationery, baby and little ones clothing and toys by Claire Williams of Peek a Boo.

The lovely High Wycombe team at Gymboree child development programme were also around to share what they do with families. And lastly, to satisfy all ice cream needs Lollie Dollies ice cream van event hire were there. They cater for all occasions including Weddings. Yum!

Later in the afternoon was a brilliant dog show, judged by the lovely Joyce Marriott from Stokenchurch Dog Rescue who also raised awareness for the safety and wellbeing of dogs. There were some ridiculously cute dogs as you will see below!

All money raised went to the British Heart Foundation and The Childrens Society.

Alison and Careys Wedding in Poole (Second Shooter)

I had the pleasure of second shooting alongside wedding photographer Jake Howard at this wonderful wedding last month in Poole! It was a really relaxed and fun afternoon, the focus throughout the day was totally about having a good time and celebrating the fabulous couple couple, Alison and Carey. There was no cutting of cake or first dance, a rather untraditional wedding in many ways, so it was great fun to document and be a part of!

The reception was held on a boat where the speeches took place and celebrations continued, and was just a few minutes walk from Pool Register Office where they were married.

Thanks so much Jake for having me along at this wedding and to Alison and Carey for being a part of your day.

100th Birthday Party!

Last week I celebrated my Great Grandmothers 100th Birthday! A lot of my family came down for the occasion, and it was amazing to think how everybody in the room existed and were brought together as a result of her! What incredible times she must have lived through in the last hundred years... A remarkable lady, I'm so proud!

The wonderful cake was created by Cake Expectations, do take a look at her website her work is absolutely fantastic!

The Chiltern Hotel

I was delighted to be asked to capture the relaunch evening reception of The Chiltern hotel and restaurant, formally The Rose & Crown Saunderton. It was also the first exhibition of artist Sally Thurlbeck's latest collection which is truly outstanding, and worked beautifully in the spaces around the restaurant and rooms.

It was fantastic to see how the event brought lots of locals together and also people from further afield to see what it was all about! The lovely staff served canapés throughout the evening which went down very well, champagne to celebrate, wine tasting and lots of laughter! And there was a beautiful rainbow that evening!
