Why you need to think about bringing props into your next shoot

There are so many opportunities in your brand photography to tell a story, to share parts of yourself & your business through the elements that make it (the locations, your outfits & accessories, body language, posture & energy, type of light, etc).

Everything comes together to make a statement about who you are & what you’re about in your biz.

Our pre-shoot convos clarify what these elements will be, but I always aim to have us shooting in a few different environments & outfits, as it brings lots of variety to your shots, meaning you come away with a versatile library & don’t run out of fresh images too soon! There are different sides to us all, too, and I like helping your clients to see that.

One of the details of your photos is props… (‘Props’ always sound to me like something for a stage production! But really they’re just the physical items that let us create a narrative in your images, and communicate with your peeps!)

They’re usually the things you use & have around you in your life & work that say something about you.

Using props are a brilliant way to…

❤️ show what you do when you’re working

🧡 bring your personal style to in the shots (everything you have comes together to create a certain look)

💛 show your products in use

💚 capture you ‘in action’ with them, giving you more than solely to-camera shots which is always handy!

💙 create a scene/backdrop in the images that has touches of you all around, giving a feel of your reality & lifestyle (helps peeps get to know you better)

💜 give your audience a glimpse into your world, both professionally and personally, show what’s important to you

(The props you use in a shoot don’t have to be things that you use everyday, they can be fun, illustrative or unusual things that draw attention to your images and bring personality in a different way, if still in alignment with your biz, e.g. confetti🎉, flowers🌸, signage💯, accessories👑, balloons🎈 etc!)

What props will you bring into your next shoot?
