I was delighted to work with horticulturalist Claire Forster on her brand photography near Exeter.
Claire was ready to refresh her website with professional new images to help her audience get to know her and reflect the quality and expertise she brings to her work after over two decades in the field.
She offers garden design, heritage estate/garden restoration, consultancy, training and more, and was looking for images that showcased these different aspects of her work.
In the conversations we shared before the day I enjoyed hearing about Claires deep connection with nature, as well as her love of the science behind it.
She has an immense respect for land and wildlife, as well as for Devon Heritage and cares about preserving and protecting it. Around the time of our shoot she’d been taking part in a scything course, so capturing this in action was great to capture. It’s the first time ‘scythe’ has featured on a props checklist for one of my photo-shoots and I am SO here for capturing more traditional skills!
Claire brings a huge amount of art and creativity to her work as well as the science (soil, climate, direction, etc) and working with the history of the land, so we aimed to give a glimpse into this, showing her at work in a garden, planning and designing, assessing the soil, in conversation with a client and studying.
The wanted the new images to feel approachable, engaging, and convey Claires credibility, respect for nature, for Devon Heritage, and the balance between being extremely hard working and a sense of patience… you can’t rush nature.
It’s clear Claire puts her heart and soul into the gardens she works on and I hope you’ll feel her connection to her work through these images.
