Connect with the energy you want to greet your clients with...
You’ve probably heard the advice to write content that speaks directly to your ‘ideal client’, rather than to the vague entirety of internet users.
Being intentional about who you want to connect with - and writing to those people in your copy - feels quite a bit less overwhelming than trying to appeal to everyone.
Being specific in our copy helps those who are a good fit to better connect with us (while turning away those who aren’t a good match).
In the same way, getting specific about who we want to connect with through our images (whether through our professional personal brand photography, or our selfies) is powerful too.

In the moment of having our photo taken, a lot of us have been conditioned to “smile and say cheese!!!!”, or maybe we find ourselves feeling weird and pulling silly faces!?
(For the record, both of these responses are fully welcome on a shoot with me.)
But while your brand photography is a place for self-expression, it’s not just about grinning wildly into the camera.
Your photos = a tool for connection with your audience, for communicating who you are, and engaging with the people you best serve.
They’re a way for you to share your message, position yourself, and deepen your relationships with your clients and followers.
So before you take that selfie, film the video, or have your professional photos taken, take a minute to remember who this work you’re doing is actually for and who you want to connect with through the images.
(Remember, you’re really not trying to appeal to everyone, just those who are a good fit.)
Focus on connecting directly with them through the camera, and imagine they’re on the other side (because they are!).
On a photo-shoot with me, I’ll invite you to do this throughout our session (to the extent that this concept is supportive for you).
I may bring the intentionality through through a few specific words to help you tap into the vibes we want to bring, or, you may want to literally close your eyes and really imagine those people you love to work with and how you want to welcome them in (in a meaningful, minimally-cheesy way!).
Wanna bring more ‘you’ to your personal brand photography in 2026?
I’m currently booking Spring photo-shoots and would be *thrilled* to collaborate with you.
Book in a call with me here, or email me with any questions you may have. I’d be so happy to hear from you.
