The Anticipation of Spring & Beauty of Grasses

Just came across these photos… throwback to May 2021 - the most anticipated Spring of my *existence* as we dreamt of what the coming-back-to-life of this season would bring in our new home in Somerset.

I was fascinated by the variety of grasses and wildflowers that rose and bloomed around us and tried to capture as many of them as I could. It was surprising how many different types there could be in just one patch, all growing together.

Getting so close to these tiny beings with their minuscule seeds and pollen puffs, I was transported to childhood, crouching down amongst the familiar things of the ground and making worlds out of what we found. I didn’t know that I had forgotten the beauty of grasses grown long and free.

Here are a few photos from one Spring day in our garden last May.
