“Becky is an extraordinary photographer who has the amazing skill of making people feel very comfortable in front of a camera. She listens and is very perceptive, with a wealth of great ideas and experience. The photos I recieved were even better than I expected!! The whole experience has made me feel more confident and professional.”
Sally Lancaster, Fine Artist
I recently shared the most joyful personal brand photography session with Devon-based fine artist Sally Lancaster here in Exeter.
Sally was ready to bring a higher quality look and feel to her website and branding through professional new images as she evolves her art business.
Specialising in highly detailed, realistic paintings, she’s currently working on a body of work inspired by natural landscapes, skies and waters. (Seriously, her work is EPIC. Look at this work in progress!)
As a fellow creative, it’s always exciting to hear from artists. Like many of my clients, Sally is not the biggest fan of being on camera, so I was truly honoured to be trusted with her photography.
Before the day of our shoot, we shared calls to connect and plan our session, and - being so local to each other - met up in person at her art studio too! It was inspiring to see her incredible, intricate paintings in person, and clarify our intentions for her new images.
As she sells to high end venues, we looked to find a location for our shoot that had a luxurious, stylish aesthetic, and were thrilled to shoot at the beautiful Winslade Manor. This location gave us a great variety of settings for her images. (It has extra significance as Sally grew up in the area around there, and knows it very well.) The team were a delight.
Through these photographs, I wanted to get across Sally's connection with the outdoors, her observant, tuned-in presence and appreciation for the beauty of nature, as well as a ‘polished’ look and feel.
On the day, we took a moment to arrive, ground ourselves, reconnect with our vision and the purpose for the images, and flowed through the various locations and outfits, blessed with a dry and slightly breezy Autumn day! We had such a lovely time.
I love what we captured and seeing Sallys refreshed site. You can see how she’s using the photos, check out her incredible paintings for sale here, and follow on Instagram here for painting progress, info and updates!
We snapped a few photos of her previous paintings of dancers leaning up against the walls, pillars, etc at the venue too, so she had some that show the scale of her work in-situ, you’ll find those at the end of this post.
I have too many favourites to share here, as always! So, here is just a smidge of the fabulousness we captured that day.
