Thoughts from Bondi Beach + an invitation to inspiration!

As I’m sitting here working from my North Bondi apartment, the balcony doors wide open before me, I can hear waves crashing below, laughter, occasional screams and WOOOO!’s coming from the beach. People are definitely having fun out there.

I can also hear a helicopter circling the coastline, checking that all is safe and well in the water, along with lifeguards on megaphones that direct the surfers and swimmers, guiding them to safety.

Last weekend I went in the sea here for the first time and actually got totally smashed by the waves! It was a bit scary as I don’t go in the sea that much and was so unprepared for how powerful the ocean can be... Even though I was absolutely fine, I felt grateful to know that if I had needed help it would have been there!

It got me thinking about how much protection there is at Bondi beach to keep people safe. The coast guards are constantly overseeing things, directing and making sure everyone is alright.

In life and business we have an overseer - I believe that is our inner guidance... Source, ‘God', the Universe = our deep connection to our truth. That is what keeps US safe and on our own life path of alignment and joy. It's what we can always return to when we get out of our depth and fearful. And sometimes we do find ourselves in a vibration that keeps us feeling stuck, caught up in the waves of possibility or overwhelm.

When things feel this way, stop what you're doing. Nothing you put into motion from that space is going to feel right when you're not connected to your true self and people feel that in the vibration of what you do. Do you really want to put that out into the world? Make your next steps about serving yourself. There is nothing that needs to happen more than you getting back into alignment with yourself. Nothing more pressing. So do what feels good. You know what to do... What feels light and easy and kind? Have a nap. Take a walk, move your body. Admire nature. Meditate on Love. Write three pages of things that you appreciate, and let yourself really feel into it!

The rips and tides of life and business are always there, but when we navigate them with clarity and purpose, amazing things happen!

Sometimes, I crave that same life-guard-like guidance from someone so that I can enjoy my paddle or swim in the ocean of business, trusting that I have the support to explore with safety. It’s why I continually invest in my own development and coaching.

Having guidance and support can really help. That's why I would love to invite you to a conversation.

I work with my clients before their shoot to explore their business, their message, ideal clients, values, their love for what they do to gain clarity on how we would like to illustrate that through their photography and marketing.

These calls are conscious, powerful, and sacred, and often my clients find themselves connecting back with their true desires and intentions for their work in the world, inspired to refine their offering or make a new one, make positive shifts, and feel more excited than ever to move forward and shine their light in the world. It’s so frigging exciting when that happens!!!

You don't NEED anything from anyone, or from me. The next steps are already within you. You DO know what you want to do next. But how fun it is to explore with someone who will get as excited as you do about your plans, who holds the space with you and the vision of your success!

This conversation is a chilled out space for YOU.
For you to listen within, and be heard.
For you to dream and be dreamed.
A space that is free of judgement, expectation and pressure - just a space to play, feel and breathe truth back into what you do.

Let’s explore where you’re at right now, your desires, and look at how you’re moving forward.

I can happily share with you how I may support you from there if you are eager to know more, however there is absolutely no obligation to book a shoot with me, obvs.

I’d love to connect with you at a deeper level and get to know you better!

I have opened up some spaces to speak next week - my time zone is a little funky for my UK peeps (with me being here in Sydney and all) but the following times are currently available:

Monday 8th Feb @ 9am or 8pm GMT
Tuesday 9th Feb @ 9am or 8:30pm GMT
Wednesday 10th Feb @ 9am or 8pm GMT

And just to let you know - I have three spaces left for personal branding photo shoots when I'm back to the UK in March - so if you are also interested in shooting together get in touch asap to secure your spot!

Trusting you're having a beautiful week so far.

With sun kissed smiles and sandy feet,

Little note from Sydney + travel rampage!

Hello from sunny Sydney! Hope I’m not making you too jel with all the pics I’m sharing on Instagram! ;)

Gotta say, a part of me is slightly missing the crisp, dazzlingly frosty mornings of an English winter, but I’m also loving how sun soaked and sandy my life is right now. Seriously, sand EVERYWHERE.

I’ve had a beautiful time here so far, meeting up with friends and making new ones, enjoying the change of scene, the beach, shops, cafes and lifestyle.

I have honestly found myself laughing out-loud and sighing with joy at the reality of being here - my heart bursting with gratitude. I'M HERE. I made it happen! Right now I’m typing from the balcony of my third Airbnb apartment in North Bondi and I can see and hear the sea!!!! Yay!

Like you, travel has always inspired me, and while I’ve been thrilled to take many short trips to different destinations for work or holidays, I have wanted to experience destinations for longer, to really settle in and feel it out.  It's only now that I've given myself permission to do that.

When I finally acknowledged the flower of my true desire, and allowed it to blossom, it dawned on me that there would never be a ‘right’ time to follow that curiosity, and if anything I could totally imagine my future self saying ‘I wish I’d done it sooner! Why did she hold herself back?’.

So here I am. For the excitement of it. It does feel good.

Having said that, I’ve noticed a few ups and downs since I arrived. Honestly, there is an old voice that has niggled from time to time with unhelpful thoughts like ‘yeah, but who do you think you are to be here in Sydney? You should be working harder!’.  I've always had a strong work ethic that has been more of a hindrance than a help a lot of the time, and I think when you're on an adventure that breaks the flow of normal life it can really challenge the beliefs you've made about how life is 'supposed' to be lived (for YOU, anyway), and how business is 'supposed' to be done.  But I know that we all have a choice, as the creators of our own realities, so breathing in some love and letting go of those limiting thoughts is really important.

One of the things that has helped me to realign is to read a rampage (an Abraham-Hicks term) I wrote a few months ago. It came to me one morning in November as was doing my daily journaling.  It was soon after I’d returned from the Abe cruise and I was opening up... Connecting with myself in a way, deeper than ever before. I was starting to envision my dream life with real possibility, and bravely choosing to own that desire.

As I wrote, this rampage started to flow. The reality of travel and expansion and living-life-on-my-own-terms was alive. I read this rampage out loud with a huuuge smile on my face most days leading up to my trip, to get into alignment with my dream, to rise above the negative self talk. I thought I'd share it with you here! Hope this inspires you too!

TRAVEL feels so good and so fun and
SO expansive to me,
That when I get in the energy of it
and feel so in the vortex about it
and so believing in its coming to me,
Ways are shown to me.
And I know that
The laws of the Universe are guiding and supporting me
in whatever I am thinking and feeling about.
And wonderful occurrences surprise and delight me along the way
as I realise on my path of least resistance,
with more and more clarity,
that Life is supposed to be fun,
and that Life feels good when I stay in alignment with what I desire,
and that things are always working out for me, and that
Everything I desire and
Everything I get excited about is manifesting in ways that are perfect, beautiful and quite frankly epic!
I remember that when I stop wondering ‘how’ it’s going to happen
and when I cease to muddle up my vibration with trying to plan everything
(and trying to control everything)
The Universe is effortlessly providing for me in a steady flow
that mirrors my inner state of being.
All I have to do is relax and enjoy the unfolding.
I feel excited when I think about traveling.
I feel excited when I imagine myself in new places,
meeting new people, breathing new air, in awe of new views, walking new ground, making new friends, exploring new streets, swimming in new waters, photographing the beauty that is all around.
I feel excited when I imagine myself working with new clients in beautiful new destinations around the world,
I feel excited about the idea of making money as I travel, knowing that I will naturally take inspired action and make connections as I go, with ease, that will lead to
The manifestation of photo shoots with ideal clients in the most perfect timing.
Trusting in the powers of this beautiful Universe and
Feeling so deeply grateful for my being here.

Beaming love and light and wishing you a wonderful rest of your week.

Lets be playful about our 2016 desires + meet me in Sydney?

Happy New Year.

Alongside getting back to biz this week I’ve been doing lots of clearing.  Its a GOOD feeling, to de-clutter.  I love the feel of energy shifting in my space.

My intention is to be traveling more throughout 2016 and I wanted to leave for Sydney this Sunday (OMG so soon!) knowing that I’d let go of a lot of stuff I don’t need anymore.

One of the most interesting things about going through stuff is finding notes and papers from when I first started my business four and a half years ago.  It is interesting to observe my processes back then.

I see from pages of old notebooks how much of the time I was in my head, trying to figure things out logically.  Back then I felt like I should be doing better than I was, and I got stuck working out how I was going to 'make it happen' and become more successful.

I remember feeling guilty for not achieving more. Trying. ‘Should-ing’. ‘How-ing’. It felt more like I was pushing my business rather than inviting it in.

I had really high expectations for myself and my work that sabotaged me at those young and vulnerable stages.  I was so in my head about what to do next, a lot of the time.

It is obviously important and exciting to get clear on our desires, map out our plans and look at our next steps (and this is a great time of year for it), but unless this is coming from an inspired, positive place, it doesn’t always serve us in the way we hoped, the way we'd been promised it would.

I found that when my to-do list was so extensive and rigid, I was overwhelmed and couldn’t move forward very productively at all. And then when I felt stuck, I was beating up on myself for not being further ahead, procrastination-planning and generally going around in circles.  Thinking back to that feels icky.

It was interesting to find all these notes, because I operate from SUCH a different place now.

Becky Rui

I know now that feeling good is what I was always striving for.  I had thought that by being more successful in my business I would be happier.  But no matter how much business success I could or couldn’t achieve, joy was a vibration already within me, within us all, available and ready to be tuned into.  I was ‘wasting’ my time, energy and potential worrying and getting freaked out about the details of everything, because all along I could have been feeling more relaxed and playful about it all.

I know it doesn’t make sense to most of the world, to relax about our goals, some people think it sounds lazy or deluded (maybe people have accused you of this too, ha!?), but in my experience it’s a massively more powerful, creative and active place to be. And feels a whole lot lighter!

This is also a Virgo talking here peeps, this is an allowing practice I remind myself of daily.

When you’re truly allowing yourself to feel good, inspiration occurs that just wouldn’t have been born out of any pressured, fearful, pushing place you were in before.  This INSPIRED action will likely be so much more fun and effective than anything you’d have forced to happen before, and will open up more and more opportunities that seem quite magical.

If joy is our real desire, then I believe we can get into a more playful place about everything else, especially ‘how’ we’ll get to wherever we want to be/do/have/achieve.  The nudge to take the best action will be there in the best timing when we are in the best place for it.  We just have to tune in to ourselves and how we're really feeling about things as we make our decisions.

There are lots of things you can do to get into that good place to start off with, some of those for me are journaling - particularly about what I appreciate and what I am grateful for (write for as long as you can + feel it!), meditate on a really good feeling for 20 minutes, practice yoga - again even if only for a few minutes or just to stretch. Dance! Get outside and admire nature, whether you stand outside your door and watch the clouds for 30 seconds or go for a long, nourishing walk.  Everything is a sign, so follow what feels really good to you.

I wanted to share this message with you today, just in case all the GOAL SETTING that most of us do in Jan is getting you caught up anywhere, bringing up any unwanted feelings, and as a little loving reminder (to you, and myself!) to remember that joy is already within… To know your own desires, FEEL good about them and let go of the HOW.  Big love to you!

As I mentioned, I’m going to be heading to Australia on Sunday!!! - I am excited most about running my biz as I travel, exploring new places, having fun doing photo-shoots, enjoying really good almond chai lattes, making friends, floating in the sea, creatively writing and drawing, feeling warm in the sunshine, checking out cute shops and businesses, ahhh… Wanna come too!?

I have availability for photo-shoots while I’m down under, so if you fancy next shoot (where it’s Summer right now!) or have clients, friends or family interested in working together, do get in touch by at  I have availability when I'm back in the UK again from 11th March 2016.

FIVE spaces are left for Sydney photo shoots.  Is one of them yours?

With love, smiles, and a happy dance for your most joyful year so far!

Paying it Forward

When I was at school, I had a deep feeling that I wanted to make change. I was blessed with learnings about the law of attraction and knew that the power of our conscious and unconscious intention, our beliefs, would totally shape our lives. But when I looked around, I didn't see this way of living or teaching available to the other students.

I felt angry that while there were kind and inspiring teachers, this message wasn't really being shared; life is meant to be joyful.

I knew I wanted to share this message with other young people like me but I didn't know how, other than through what seemed like random one-to-one conversations.

Last week it felt like I had been gifted with the first big step in that direction. I had been invited to speak at the Aylesbury Vale Young Enterprise awards to around 100 students that had taken part in the Young Enterprise scheme.

I was SO IMPRESSED by what these young people have all achieved so far in their small businesses, the learnings they've all made, the way they had innovated through challenges and worked as a team, and then how confidently they presented their work.  I loved seeing them awarded for their achievements as well.

I was honoured to bring some of this inspired way of thought and feeling to them during my talk, share my journey and some of the biggest learnings I've made through having my own business. I am excited to imagine where these inspiring young people may take their fantastic experience next! So much gratitude.

Learnings From The Other Side Of The Lens
Mid-Shoot Selfie with Molly!

Mid-Shoot Selfie with Molly!

Earlier this month, I was thrilled to have my own photo shoot! Yes - photos taken of ME! It was so good to understand what my clients go through and what it's like to be on the other side of the camera.

It had been a couple of years since my last professional photo-shoot (yes I know, so long!). SO MUCH has changed for me and my life and business in the last 6 months, let alone in the last two years! It was most definitely time to refresh.

As the date of my shoot came closer I felt all sorts of things come up... Excitement and nervousness to become more visible, fears around how I would look in the photos, what to wear and a few worries about 'getting it right'.

All of the stuff that came up for me was relevant and needed to be heard so that I could move forward without resistance, but not all of it seemed helpful! I acknowleged the feelings that came up, recognised what was true and useful and what was just ego rubbish that I could let go of.

Photography in business communicates so much of who you are, what you're like, how you work, and creates an emotional response with your prospects when they see it in your marketing. I KNOW the power that it has in branding, so I wanted to prepare well and be confident about the locations/outfits/props I was going to use.

So leading up to the shoot, I worked through the process that I use with my clients to get clarity on my personal brand and what I wanted to communicate through my photographs. As I felt into my desires and goals for the next 6 months, I thought about where I specifically wanted to use photographs of myself (website pages, blog posts, mail-outs and social media), and it helped me to decide on the various locations, outfits, and props that I wanted to use with each look. I feel more confident than ever about the process I've created for my clients!

Molly shooting me in the blossom!

Molly shooting me in the blossom!

The shoot was fantastic, I worked with wonderful Molly Matcham who came down to London from Cumbria for our time together, and we had SO MUCH FUN! I have followed her beautiful work for a long time, and was thrilled to get infront of her lens and creative eye for this shoot. I can't wait to see the photographs when they are ready!

It is so valuable to walk your talk and set the example for your clients and those around you, and since my shoot I've been able to use my many learnings during shoots and consultations with my clients.

Writing this post feels a bit scary and vulnerable, but I want to be real with you, and you always grow in the process! So here are a few of the personal learnings I made from my own photo shoot experience.

Be kind to yourself

A week or so before the shoot, I found myself worring about looking bad in the photos... Whether it was looking a bit podgy or spotty or ugly or whatever. It was not helpful, not real, but it is something that came up, and a worry that comes up for my clients all the time. I'm not generally someone who let's themselves slip into this way of thinking too much, but knowing that I was going to be photographed made me feel like there was some kind of finality about that.

I reminded myself of the truth I tell my amazing clients; The purpose of your branding photography is to help you become highly visible. To connect with your people. To tell a story about who you are and what you do. To acknowlege yourself and step into your greatness, and have fun with that! To STRENGTHEN your personal brand, which is ultimately YOU.

Acknowlege these deep feelings and send them some love. They're trying to protect you, but they will keep you small if you let them.

Recognise what you DO have to be grateful for about your body, whether you can walk or talk or see or hear or think or feel or inspire others. Be thankful for all that you are... Release these worries about how you look.

This negative-self-talk/visibility topic is HUGE and there is so much to say, but what also helped me to get back in my power and forget about the ego-rubbish was to remind myself that I absolutely LOVE the work I do, that the way I work with my clients is unique and transformational, and that I am available for new and existing clients.

So, I need to be VISIBLE for my ideal clients to find me, and I need to have new photographs to help to connect. Step out of your own way.  The work you're here to do is SO MUCH GREATER than any of the negative self talk.

Be seen for who you really are and you'll connect with your audience and ideal clients on a much deeper level.

Behind the scenes pic from one of our last looks on the shoot!

Behind the scenes pic from one of our last looks on the shoot!

Let go, let go, let go.

I can be a perfectionist, and I worried too much before the shoot about the things that WERE within my control... What are the PERFECT locations/outfits/accessories/makeup for the message I want to communicate? I didn't want to get it all wrong.

These pieces are very important to consider, but I was over-thinking and I caught myself. So when I realised what I was doing, I imagined what I say to clients who are in this position, and reminded myself... Aren't these photos about making a REAL connection with people online? Isn't the most important thing that you're being AUTHENTIC and relaxed? Yes.

So relax, and choose your looks and locations based on what you'd REALLY wear, and where you'd REALLY go. I told myself - this photo shoot is not going to define me for the rest of my life! I told myself to lighten up!! This is all about having fun, and being who I am.

It was also especially important as a photographer to let go and trust Molly to capture me. I honestly didn't feel too concerned about this, because I really do trust her and had asked her to photograph me because I love her work. Before the shoot I'd already shared with her what I was looking for,  I knew she got where I'm at and I could relax about that. It was a wonderful experience to totally surrender and trust her to capture me! I can't wait to see the photos!

If you're feeling held back by fears around visibility in your business, know that this is something we can navigate together. If you're considering using photography in a bigger way to help tell your story and attract more of your ideal clients, send me an email at and let's speak!

Destination Photographer - Shooting in Lanzarote

It's been amazing to spend a few days in Lanzarote and so wonderful to do two photo shoots there with two very inspiring entrepreneurial ladies!

Although Lanzarote is usually thought of as a holiday destination, they have both left their lives in the UK within the last couple of years and relocated here, continuing to run their successful businesses from the beautiful island. It was inspiring to hear about that journey, and great to remember that you can run your business from anywhere in the world!

It is always a privilege to work with women who are passionate about making a difference in the world and changing lives, and helping them to engage with their people through new photography is such an honour.

I also loved getting out to shoot some personal work while I was there, and can't wait to send off my film to the lab! For now, heres a few phone pics!
