Personal Branding Photography - Miami Beach, Florida - Anna Chainska

becky rui

Getting to travel with my business is a total dream come true, and last year I was thrilled to work with UK based life coach Anna Chainska in Miami!

We wanted to create a series of photographs around South Beach that reflected her jet-setter lifestyle, love of fun, nature and her family. It was a total joy and privilege to capture!

Fancy your next shoot in your dream destination? Email me at becky@beckyrui.com and let's speak!

Natural Family Portraits in Buckinghamshire

becky rui

It was so wonderful to spend some time with this lovely family back in early February to capture some fun and natural portraits!

The woodland session took place on a wintery morning in one of the families favourite locations in Buckinghamshire.

It's always so precious to capture the special connection between siblings... These twin boys are so sweet with each other, and so much fun!

I love allowing portrait sessions to be really personal to a family in this way... Setting up the shoot in one of their favourite places, having fun with each other as if I'm almost not there! and for these boys - totally embracing the puddles! It makes it so real and even more enjoyable.

When was the last time you updated your family portraits?

If you'd love to have a relaxed photography session in one of your families favourite locations, send me a message at becky@beckyrui.com and let's explore that!

Why Family Photographs are so Special

becky rui

It was so great to celebrate my cousins 30th birthday at the weekend with lots of family. We were lucky to have so much sunshine that afternoon and sat in the garden together catching up and enjoying amazing food!

Of course, I was pleased to take a few photos to capture my cousins birthday, our afternoon,  and some special group photos. Like most people, my family don't love having photos taken, but I believe in what I'm capturing and know how important it will be to us all one day even if they don't appear to appreciate it right in that moment!!

Later on, when the rain started to come, we moved inside. As so often happens on these occasions - family albums came out, and everyone started pouring over beautiful old photographs as memories flooded back.

Photos of our past really bring us together. I mean, how much do we LOVE looking at old photos of our childhood holidays, the hilarious hairstyles and fashion trends that we thought were fantastic at the time! The group photos of family members who are no longer with us.

I'm sure we can all connect to that moment where you come across a few old photos and get sucked into the memories for literally hours!

I care that we realise that those moments are happening NOW too. This moment in time, right now, is also worth documenting.

Even if things feel so normal at the moment, it's exactly the reason why you'll love to look back on it. To remember life as it was, and things the way they used to be... The people who were there...

If you'd like to have a conversation about updating your family portraits, do get in touch with me and let's make it happen! I'd be honoured to make sure that your time is recorded. Email me today at becky@beckyrui.com, I'd love to hear from you!

Kind words from a special client

I was so touched to recieve this testimonial from one of my family shoot clients. Thank you Hannah!

I wanted some nice photos of me and my mum for her birthday, so I began searching for local photographers. When I emailed Becky, she suggested that we speak to get a feel for what I wanted. That really made the difference - when we spoke she was genuinely interested in what we wanted to achieve.

On the day, we went to the location for the shoot. She made us both feel really relaxed, we walked along until the light was right and she found nice spots to shoot. We never felt rushed or under pressure and got along well, even having a coffee in the cafe with her afterwards!

The resulting photos were exactly what we wanted and they made excellent family Christmas presents! All in all we had a fun day and some photos that will be treasured for years. Many thanks Becky

Happy New Year!

becky rui

As we come to the end of the year, I'd love to thank you for your business and support and share a few of my highlights with you!

February saw me flying across the world to join an amazing photography-business workshop with photographer Jonathan Canlas in Hawaii! It was a huge step up for me to achieve this goal, which at some times felt totally out of reach... But I made it, I learned so much and made some great friendships with other photographers around the world.

How wonderful to be chosen to be the wedding photographer for some awesome couples in Oxford, London and Surrey. It was an honour to capture more beautiful weddings and special moments for my amazing clients and their families.

Including an impromptu wedding harlem shake...!

On a hot and sweaty day in July I found myself in a London studio shooting a cover for an online magazine with Vince Kidd, an artist from the first series of talent show The Voice.

Loved shooting more fashion work for the worlds leading modelling agencies with talent in London and Los Angeles!

And shot some of London Fashion Week!

I photographed more charity events for Handbags-For-Hospices and AIDSArk which included shooting an intimate fund-raising dinner at Graham Nortons London home!

I was beyond thrilled to be invited to shoot abroad this year! I travelled to beautiful Paris for a special family portrait session with one of my cherished 2012 wedding clients - it was such a pleasure to catch up with them and capture the next part of their story with their gorgeous baby boy, spending the whole day exploring their favourite parts of town!

I also shot a really cool up and coming band Wild China in Fuerteventura! It was so great to shoot in a totally different kind of environment and do something so creative... It was so inspiring and I can't wait to be able to share the photos! I'm excited to have been booked for more destination shoots next year! Yay!

I worked with more fantastic entrepreneurial men and women, capturing soulful and engaging portraits for their businesses. I love helping my clients to relax into the session, taking the fear away from being photographed and bring out the passion they have for what they do... Creating photos that they are proud to use!

So what have you been up to this year? I'd love to hear your highlights!

You can keep up to date with my offers and adventures on my blog here, or you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

I look forward to keeping in touch with you in the new year and wish you a beautiful 2014! xxx
